Changing Years

Life seems to take a different view

As we turn on the road of tomorrow

We’ve seen some bumpy times

Much joy, of course, some sorrow

That child we protected daily

Now sits in the driver’s seat

Many admonitions that they heard

They often now repeat

The independence we once knew

As we head toward later years

Overwhelms us as we age

And shift into lower gears

We should be grateful for the past

Remember it with a smile

Let that delightful girl or boy

Take over our life for a while.
