(wonderful memories)
Lou Rogers
Although my wife suffered intense Alzheimer’s disease
During the last year of her life
She still felt the rhythm of dance music
And never lost her desire to dance
Even though we did not attend a lot of dances
Through our 47 years of marriage
We both unfailing kept our dance rhythms
Our love for the warmth and closeness
Of dancing with each other
And our love for dance music
When Ann was in the depths
Of her ninth year of Alzheimer’s disease
And during the last one of her 87 years
She was youthful and slight in frame
And still spry and able
To rise and come into my arms
With a delightful sweet smile
Tugging at the corners of her lips_
For a little dance around the rooms_
When I would say,
“Let’s dance Honey.”
